To the Editor:

With temperatures above freezing for the first time in months, it's almost time for spring-cleaning.

Keep in mind that one man's trash is another man's treasure — something that is garbage to  your family could be exactly what another family needs.

This is an open letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo, and to the members of the New York State Senate and Assembly. 

There is a public-service organization in every community in this state that returns $7 in service for every dollar it receives, and that is your local library.   

To the Editor:

Last Friday evening, the Guilderland Lady Dutch basketball team ended its season with a loss to Shaker in an exhilarating a game that wasn’t decided until the last few minutes of play. The real thrill to me, however, is that this was a milestone many did not think could be achieved just a few short years ago.

The date and time for the Fifth Annual Smith’s Tavern Poet Laureate Contest has been set: Sunday, April 27, starting at 12:30 p.m. Regional poets can start tightening up the lines of their finest odes and sonnets to compete for cash prizes at the tavern.
