GUILDERLAND — Historian Bruce Dearstyne has just published a book he hopes will be judged.

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline will connect people experiencing a mental-health or substance-use crisis to a trained counselor who can address their immediate needs and help connect them to ongoing care.

Shouldn’t we move to a new aesthetic?
