Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, October 7, 2020

The Voorheesville Public Library will host a graphic novel book discussion. Join us via Zoom, to discuss “7 Generations: A Plains Cree Saga” by David Robertson, on Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

This discussion is for readers in grades 10 and up and is appropriate for families to read and talk about together. It is available to read on Hoopla, SimplyE, and a few copies will be available at the library. Please register on the online calendar at www.voorpl.org to receive a link to the Zoom meeting. 

Miss Lisa’s Library Tots

Join Miss Lisa for a fun and interactive Zoom live session of Library Tots, from 10 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15. You and your toddler (ages 0-24 months) will enjoy some special time of book reading, songs, rhymes, lap bounces and action rhymes. 

Fun Time Library Tots Activity Bags will be available for those who register for the class. Items included can be used during the class. Please register to receive the Zoom link and to pick up the Fun Time Library Tots Activity Bag (your child's name will be on it) before the session.  

Teens Care

Teens can pick up project kits on Friday, Oct 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., to sew for charity and earn community service time. Choose from telemetry pouches for the cardiac unit of Albany Medical Center (requires a sewing machine), or catnip toys for the animal shelter (can be sewn by hand).

Grades 6 to 12, please register on the event calendar at www.voorpl.org, and pick up your prepared kit. Complete the projects at home, then return completed items to the library by the end of the month. 

Great Give Back

The mission of The Great Give Back is to provide a day of opportunities for the patrons of the Public Libraries of New York State to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences. We’ll start off this campaign with Tic Tac Toe. You can download a tic tac toe page from our website at www.voorpl.org. Fill in a line to win some swag. Watch these pages for more information on The Great Give Back.

A limited number of appointments are available Monday to Saturday to browse for and check out materials or computer use. Evening browsing appointments are available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please call Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 518-765-2791 to schedule your appointment.

Each appointment slot is for one person only. Each appointment is for a maximum of 30 minutes. Any person entering the building is expected to: wear a mask; follow six-feet physical distancing; follow directional arrows on the floor. Restrooms remain closed to the public.

All curbside services will remain during this time. Only the outdoor book drop may be used to return books - please do not bring returns into the building. All items on the shelves have been quarantined for a minimum of 96 hours.
