Voorheesville Library Notes for Tuesday, January 10, 2023

Bath time is so much more fun with lots and lots of bubbles! Children ages 2 to 5, with a caregiver, are invited to join us at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, when we’ll have a bubbly blast enjoying stories about bath time and bubbles. There is always an art activity that can be completed at the library or at home. No registration is needed. 

Library Tots 

Children up to 30 months, with a caregiver, are invited to join us at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 19. We’ll get together for a fun program featuring songs, fingerplays, body movement, felt board stories, books, and toys! No registration needed. 

Creativity Lab 

Students in grades 6 thru 12 are invited to come to the library after school, at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13. This week we’ll learn how to use circuit supplies to make your paper creation light up and move. Registration is required, snacks will be provided. 

Manga Madness 

The Manga Club will be trying out some anime cookbooks and bringing in a dish to share for a potluck lunch at the library, 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15. Choose one of three cookbooks, available at the library. Try some of the recipes at home, then bring a dish to share with fellow manga maniacs. Open to grades 7 thru college. Available titles are Cook Anime by Diana Ault, Bake Anime by Emily J. Bushman, and Anime Chef Cookbook by Nadine Estero, and all can be previewed on Amazon. Please register. 

 Sock dolls 

Students of all ages can register for this community service project for Monday, Jan. 16. You will learn to sew a simple sock doll for a local charity. Tweens in grades 4 thru 6, and caregivers are invited to work together from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on this sewing project. Teens in grades 7 to 12 will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Community service credits will be given as appropriate. All supplies will be provided, and no experience is necessary.  

Grab & Go 

Monday, Jan. 23 is Grab & Go day at the library. Register online to pick up a to-go kit and enjoy some creative time at your leisure. The kit can be picked up during regular library hours. Projects are relatively easy, with the freedom to inject your own creativity and style. No experience needed. 

Holiday hours 

The library will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  

Family yoga 

Children ages 3 to 7, with a caregiver, are invited to join yoga instructor, Tommie Burch, at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28. This class will explore various standing and seated poses and end with a calm book reading. Please register and bring a yoga mat or large towel.

Weather 

If the Voorheesville School District delays opening by two hours or closes for the day due to inclement weather, all morning library programs will be canceled. Please call ahead for any afternoon or evening programs.
