Jeanne O’Connor and her jazz ensemble with kick off the inaugural Cabaret Night series at Guilderland Public Library, on Friday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m. Seating is limited so those who want to attend should register ahead.

On your mark, get ready, get set — crawl! 

It’s a race to the finish on Friday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. for a fun prize and the title of Guilderland Public Library Diaper Derby Winner! Each baby may have two “handlers” at either end of the racetrack.

Please register online, by phone, or in person, and consider donating a package of diapers or wipes to support our diaper drive this week, benefitting the Guilderland Food Pantry.  

Autumn Marketplace 

Our Autumn Marketplace vendor fair takes place Saturday,  Sept. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring a variety of goods:  jewelry, cosmetics, CBD, arts & crafts, health products, home goods, clothing, bags, food and much more!  Plan to stop by and get a jump on your holiday shopping, or treat yourself to something special (or both!)

Destination: Disney

Thinking of heading down to Orlando? Some advance “mouse methodology” can help you make the most of your trip. Professional Disney planner Colleen Parisi will be on hand Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. to share valuable tips for saving time and money on a Disney vacation, while developing a manageable game plan.  Please register online, by phone or in person.  

Ladies’ Night Out

On Thursday,  Oct. 3 from 5 to  7:30 p.m., GPL is hosting a table at Ladies Night Out, sponsored by the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce. This health and wellness outreach event will be held at Western Turnpike Golf Course Ballroom, 2350 Western Ave. in Guilderland. We’ll have free books to give away, consumer health resources, and a special raffle basket too.

Word Up!

Calling all teen and adult word nerds and wannabes!  Assemble a team of your smartest friends and join us Friday,  Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. for a fun word-based competition. This is not your average spelling bee: teams will go head-to-head playing various word games.

The team with the most points at the end of the night earns exclusive bragging rights. Please register online, by phone or in person. 

D&D Intro

If you’re in grades 8 to 12 and have always wanted to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons, here’s your chance!  Plan to join us Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m to 3:30 p.m. We’ll enjoy pizza, make our own characters, and review the basics. After creating your character and completing this first adventure, sign up for the five-part campaign series starting Saturday, Oct. 19.  Please register online, by phone or in person. 

“The Night Diary”

We’re teaming up with Voorheesville Public Library on Sunay,  Oct. 6 to discuss the Newbery Honor-winning book for middle-grade readers, “The Night Diary.”

Author Veera Hiranandani will visit us via Skype to tell us more about her book, while we sample delicious Indian/Pakistani snacks!

This program is for grades 5 to 8 with a caregiver, and takes place at Voorheesville Public Library.  Please register and pick up a copy of the book at either library.

Toddler movement and development

This class, happening every Monday at 1:30 p.m. in October, strengthens movement patterns for toddlers through props, hands-on techniques, and play activities. Socialization, cognitive thinking, and language acquisition are also enhanced.  Please register online, by phone or in person.

Family STEAM Night

On Monday Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m., RPI’s engineering ambassadors will lead the way towards hands-on learning, providing a full slate of fun STEAM-based activities for grades 2 to 12 plus their families. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Wondering what colleges are really looking for, and how to get accepted into your first-choice school — maybe even with a scholarship?

Get your questions answered on Monday,  Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. This interactive (and fun!) session will provide steps toward becoming stronger candidates for college acceptances and scholarships
