A third year of a research project on wild turkey survival will kick off in January and the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking landowners who will let birds be trapped and banded on their property.

Landowners in Region 4 may contact Karl Parker at 357-2154 with the Bureau of Wildlife in Schenectady.

The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation has revised the list of Species of Greatest Conservation Need, which includes species that are at risk in New York.  The DEC developed revisions to the list in collaboration with numerous species experts and conservation partners.

The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation has established the Capital District Emerald Ash Borer Task Force to help fight and slow the spread of the destructive insect.

GUILDERLAND — Regular meetings of the Westmere Fire Department are held at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at 1741 Western Ave. in Guilderland.

The annual meeting of the department is held on the first Thursday in December, and is considered a regular meeting.

St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont will observe Jan. 4, as Epiphany Sunday with an informal worship service at 8:30 and a traditional service at 11 a.m.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.
