VOORHEESVILE — Earl Floyd MacMillen knew a lot about ice cream, standardbred horses, and farming. But above all he knew about life, a knowledge he acquired in his 85 years of living it.

A lover of football, motocross, and especially his two sons, Robert "Bobby" VanDerVeer died on Saturday, April 30, 2016. He was 48.

Master Sergeant John Jay Zeh, growing up in a large family, protected his younger sisters and he couldn’t wait to finish high school to protect his country.

He died peacefully at home in Maple Hill, North Carolina on Saturday, July 23, 2016, in the loving arms of his wife, Dyana, surrounded by his children. He was 59.

GUILDERLAND — Joan Marie O’Donnell True loved her family, knitting, and helping others, said her husband and daughter. She died on Sunday, July 24, 2016, in Florida, where she and her husband spent part of each year. She was 69.

GUILDERLAND — A quiet and kind man, Robert Jewett Thomson was cheerful and loving, his wife said. He worked as a civil engineer and had a passion for sailing.

Marion E. Michaels loved to travel with her best friend — her husband, Daniel C. Michaels. She died on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. She was 82.

KNOX — To her family, Jocelyn C. Fairlee was the “most positive and strongest person” they knew.

She died Sunday, July 17, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer and with her loving family by her side.  She was 51.

BERNE — By all accounts, Kay Maureen McIntyre was a spirited person who never lost her zest for life. She died at her home Saturday, July 16, 2016, after a “courageous battle with cancer,” her family said.  She was 66.

On Thursday, July 14, 2016, after a brief illness, Jerrine M. Osterhout died at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 79. Mrs. Osterhout left behind four children, nine grandchildren, and a happy marriage lasting over 50 years.

Kellice K. Lewthwaite, who raised her children in Voorheesville where she was active in the church and community, died Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Absolut Care of Aurora Park in East Aurora, New York. She was 91.

Catherine “Kay” Hagen West — a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — died on Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Lake City, Florida. She was 88.

She was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Hagen.

COBLESKILL —  Robert S. Dearstyne of Cobleskill, a Navy veteran who enjoyed the outdoors, died on Saturday, July 7, 2016, at his home.

“Bob will be greatly missed by all,” his family wrote in a tribute.

He was the son of the late Stanley and Evelyn Dearstyne of Berne.

ALBANY — G. Stephen Beals Sr., a teacher and school administrator, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. He was 83.

Born in North Hampton, Massachusetts, he was son of the late George C. and Susanne Beals.

ALTAMONT —  David Crounse, a Vietnam veteran who worked as a police detective, died on Saturday, June 18, 2016. He was 70.
