Straut is a decisive leader with a gentle manner

To the Editor:

I can’t think of anyone more qualified or more passionate about public education than Diana Straut and that’s why she is the right choice to continue to serve on the Voorheesville School Board. She is a decisive leader who won’t back off making a tough decision and will always strive to find the best balance of the issues, making quality education for our children the top priority.

As the father of a son in the school system and as a homeowner in the district, I trust that Diana’s career as an educator will guide her decision in maintaining a quality education for all of our children in all grades, while controlling the school tax for parents, seniors, veterans and young people. She has proven that, to our community, during the past four years that she has served on the board of education.

She has been an elementary classroom teacher, a professor — teaching aspiring educators, and an education practice researcher. She is an expert on inclusion in classrooms. We couldn’t find anyone who understands better how to educate our children to serve on our school board.

I have seen firsthand the commitment Diana; her husband, Rich; and their boys have shown to Voorheesville. They are always there to support all community events and causes. Simply, these are great folks who support Voorheesville because they love their community.

I am confident that, when elected, Diana will continue to serve the school board in her professional and gentle manner just as she has done for the past four years. Because of her proven record of representing all students in the district, I trust Diana. Diana is the right choice to continue serving on the Voorheesville School Board.
