Our wallets and library in good hands with Kowlowitz

To the Editor:

The Voorheesville Public Library provides a real service to our town. But there is a limit to how much we can all spend.

Bryan Richmond, the board member whose term is expiring, is running for the library board again. He has been a spendthrift for a long time. He was one of the people who pushed the very misguided bond issue a few years ago to build a new library. That would have multiplied our taxes with no increase in number of books or other services.

The new members of the library board have been working to try to control costs, with no increase in taxes for the library the last two years….

Another candidate, Alan Kowlowitz, is a careful, thoughtful guy. He is supportive of the library, having been a member of the Friends of the Library in the past. And he is the past president of the historical association. With him on the library board, our library and wallets will be in good hands.

Editor’s note: The library board’s vote on the 2016-17 budget was unanimous as was the board’s support at the time for the bond issue that was defeated at the polls. See related story.

“The referendum for a new library building included expansion of collections, services, and programs,” said Gail Alter Sacco, the library’s director.
