Little League wants you to umpire

To the Editor:

Love the game of baseball, summer days, hot dogs, and a cold drink?  Then do I have a deal for you.

And if, as you're reading this, you feel like you're about to be sold something then you're right!  The BKW Little League needs your help.

The Little League is looking for umpires to umpire its minor-league baseball and softball home games this year.  The majority of our games are at 6 in the evening with a handful of weekend games, beginning April 25 through to June 22; they take place at the Knox, Berne, or Westerlo town parks. Umpires will be trained and there's no experience necessary but a baseball/softball background would certainly be a plus.

The BKW Little League is run by a small but extremely dedicated group of volunteers who do everything they can to make baseball and softball a safe and enjoyable learning experience for the children who play the game, but every year we come up short on umpires.

If you're interested, please don't be shy because we wouldn't be asking for your help if we didn't need it!  Background checks will be required.

There are a total of 31 games that are unspoken for so, if you are willing to umpire one game or 20 games, every bit helps.  Umpires receive $25 a game, and a hotdog and a soda for every game they umpire.

Come umpire and enjoy watching these kids make plays, hit home runs, laugh and have fun with their teammates.  Interested parties can call me at 872-0649 to discuss details.  We thank you for your support.
