The newspaper reports what is happening, the good and the bad

To the Editor:

The public comments directed at The Enterprise at Monday’s board of education meeting disturbed me because in my view the blame is misplaced. I looked back in my archives and reread a front-page positive article about Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Oct. 4, 2012 plus accompanying editorial.  There are many more such articles I am sure.  When good things happen, they are reported.

The newspaper reports what is happening, the good and the bad. It is not about the Enterprise — it is about us. I, too, am disturbed when reading about negative events at BKW in the newspaper.

I love BKW as many of us do.  However, the paper is basically a reflection of what is occurring, not a judgment on the district.  It is incumbent upon the residents of BKW to support and encourage the good and to ensure that the "bad" is dealt with in an open and effective manner.

We cannot be passive observers standing on the sidelines watching a train wreck — we need to do whatever it takes to fix those tracks!
