HILLTOWNS — Three candidates of various backgrounds and party affiliations are running for a seat in the New York State Assembly in a special election held on April 24.

The candidates are:

Aidan O’Connor, a Democratic Green County legislator, running on the Democratic, Working Families, and Women's Equality party lines;

Chris Tague, the Republican supervisor of the town of Schoharie, running on the Republican, Conservative, Independence, and Reform party lines; and

Opinion

It is not enough for government to pass a law on what not to do; it should lead the way in helping LGBTQ youths have better lives.

GUILDERLAND — Dennis Feeney, a Democrat representing part of Guilderland, was elected majority leader of the Albany County Legislature last Thursday, following the resignation of Gary Domalewicz, who had been in the position for just three months.

The state budget left the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District with an additional $97,000 to spend, said the superintendent.

Sports

The spring season opener Tuesday saw the Guilderland boys’ lacrosse team playing in a cold drizzle of rain, sleet, and snow, losing to Ballston Spa, 13 to 5. The fields were wet with leftover snow at Ballston Spa so the game was moved to the artificial turf at Union College in Schenectady.
