Voorheesville’s planning commission was both wise and brave not to buckle under Stewart’s threat of a suit if it required an in-depth environmental review of its plan to build a shop with gas pumps in the village, across from an elementary school and backing up to the Vly Creek. Such a review is needed.

Regional

ALBANY COUNTY — As the two landfills in the county begin to fill up, municipalities are starting to think — fast — about the future. One resolution passed unanimously in the legislature suggests that the issue should be handled on a regional, or at least county-wide, level.

Hilltowns

Although graduation is not until Saturday, many goodbyes were said at Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s campus on Monday night. The district’s board of education meeting began that night with a recognition of those leaving the district this year, as well as the announcement that the school’s business manager, Sarah Blood, will be leaving in August.

Sports

It was hot and humid at Union-Endicott High School in Endicott for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association outdoor track and field championships. Guilderland sent three individual competitors and one relay team last Friday and Saturday.
