Hilltown Archives The Altamont Enterprise, May 12, 2011 The Rustic Gourmet features “to go” food By Anne Hayden DELMAR A Westerlo resident has opened a restaurant in Delmar to fill a void she found there. “There is no food readily available for a long stretch on Route 443,” said Bonnie Kohl. Though she does not have a background in the food service industry, Kohl decided to open an eatery, called The Rustic Gourmet, to provide easily accessible, quality food. “I know lots of people in the restaurant business, and I talked to a lot of people about what they would want,” said Kohl. The restaurant, which features “to-go” items, offers a variety of breakfast foods, sandwiches, wraps, salads, baked goods, coffee, and specialty beverages. Most of the dishes are available in three different sizes a taste, regular, and hearty. Kohl said she decided on the arrangement to provide “portion control.” People can choose to have something light, or something substantial and filling. The Rustic Gourmet, at 785 Delaware Ave., is open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. “Just follow the red geraniums,” said Kohl. |
