Two survive rollover crash

NEW SCOTLAND — A two-vehicle crash on Monday caused a rollover and resulted in minor injuries, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 5 p.m., a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Riley Seaburg, 18, of Feura Bush, struck a 1998 Subaru Legacy driven by Melissa Schanz, 37, of Voorheesville, according to the department’s release.  Seaburg’s truck rolled onto its roof and Schanz’s car came to a stop in a wooded area — she was extricated from it by members of the Slingerlands Fire Department.

The accident happened on New Scotland Road near the intersection of Clipp Road.  Both people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries — Schanz was taken to Albany Medical Center by the Voorheesville Area Ambulance Service and Seaburg was taken to St. Peter’s Hospital by Onesquethaw.

No tickets have been issued, according to the Sheriff’s Department, and the investigation of the cause is ongoing — alcohol and speed are not believed to be contributing factors.
