Sports Archives The Altamont Enterprise, September 9, 2010 Greenberg wins first Scottish Games 5K ALTAMONT The first-ever Scottish Games 5K race began and ended with the sound of bagpipes. On Sunday, 44 runners, some of them wearing kilts, ran a 5K course that started and ended on the Altamont fairgrounds, covering parts of Brandle Road and the Altamont- Voorheesville Road. Ben Greenberg, 41, of New Scotland, won the race with a time of 16:19. He was followed by Matthew Torniainen, 34, of Fultonville at 19:26, and Jason Peters, 36, of Schenectady at 19:57. Rebecca Moore, 23, of Rensselaer, was the first female finisher with a time of 23:07. She was followed by Anne Payne, 48, of East Berne, at 24:27, and Jill Hogan, 53, of Schenectady, at 25:16. Other local runners were Paul Turner, 61, of Delmar, at 22:42; Rob West, 34, of Delanson, at 25:57; Sharon Fellner, 49, of Schenectady, at 26:49; Michael McLean, 53, of Albany, at 26:50; Thomas Payne, 52, of East Berne, at 27:30; Joseph Doris, 32, of Albany, at 27:47; Karen Gerety, 54, of Albany, at 29:16; Susan Klim, 55, of Altamont, at 29:30; Phil Carducci, 61, of Altamont, at 30:30; Heather DiOrio, 30, of Schenectady, at 30:56; Max DiOrio, 29, of Schenectady, at 30:56; Chad Smith, 35, of Schenectady, at 31:02; Shea Murphy, 12, of Altamont, at 34:00; Kim Buckley, 41, of Altamont, at 35:03; and Karen Murphy, 39, of Altamont, at 35:39. |
