Obituaries Archives The Altamont Enterprise, July 2, 2009 Kenneth Wright Jr. WESTERLO The town’s long-time highway superintendent, Kenneth Wright Jr., known in Westerlo as “Sonny,” died on June 24, 2009 at Tupper Lake, N.Y. He was born on Valentine’s Day in 1942, the son of the late Kenneth and Thelma Wright. Wright attended Ravena-Coeymans Central High School. He worked for 22 years in construction, and later was Westerlo’s highway superintendent until his retirement five years ago. “His passions were family, camping, NASCAR, Fords, Harley Davidsons, fishing, hunting, and all animals,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He is loved and will be missed by all those who knew him.” On June 15, 1963, he married his wife of 46 years, Marjorie Dederick Wright. He was the brother of Mary Hunter of Selkirk and Keith Wright Sr. of Westerlo, and brother-in-law of Harold Dederick of Altamont. He was godfather to Keith Wright Jr., Kiley Wright, Kenny Wright, Kelly Slingerland, and Kaitlin Slingerland. He also leaves his best friends, Butch and Dee Klink of Clarksville, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on July 11 at the Guilderland Center firehouse on School Road in Guilderland from 1 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westerlo Fire Department, at 592 Route 142, Westerlo, NY 12193, or to the Westerlo Rescue Squad, 571 Route 401, Westerlo, NY 12193. |
