Hilltowns Archives The Altamont Enterprise, November 13, 2008 Survey shows most are satisfied BERNE Attendants of last week’s forum received a summary of a recent community survey, sent to 3,467 households, which found that: Of 182 respondents, about 59 percent agreed that BKW schools are helping to prepare children for a rapidly changing society, and helping them to understand world problems; about 25 percent disagreed, and 17 percent had no opinion; Of 182 respondents, 77 percent agreed that BKW schools are doing an effective job teaching children the basics of subjects like math, science, and reading; 17 percent disagreed, and 6 percent had no opinion; Of 183 respondents, 54 percent agreed that the district’s total number of courses offerings and activities is appropriate for the diverse interests of its students; 31 percent disagreed, and 15 percent had no opinion; Of 185 respondents, about 47 percent agreed that the educational programs offered by BKW schools are generally of high quality; about 36 percent disagreed, and 17 percent had no opinion; and Of 189 respondents, about 72 percent agreed that BKW’s staff members are dedicated, professional, and accessible; about 14 percent disagreed, and 14 percent had no opinion; Zach Simeone
