sidewalks

ALTAMONT — On Sept. 5, Robert Rabbin, a Main Street resident, complained to the village board about gaps in the pavement on his street — the state’s Route 146 — at the railroad crossing next to library.

By summer 2019, Voorheesville hopes to have new sidewalks installed on Altamont Road and Maple and Voorheesville avenues.

Guilderland has received a grant of $680,800 to install a sidewalk that will accommodate wheelchairs, linking the Guilderland Library to the SEFCU building at Regency Park Drive, near Route 155.

A new CDTA transit center is coming to Crossgates Mall. Some improvements that are still only in the realm of possibility are a flyover that would connect Crossgates Mall and Stuyvesant Plaza, planting of street trees, and landscaping at the Northway entrance and exit.

As part of the hamlet’s master plan, adopted in October 2014, sidewalks are being installed on both sides of Route 146 and School Road, in phases. Sidewalks were the second-most pressing concern for residents when the Guilderland Center Master Plan was formed.

The project will cover sidewalks from Route 155 to the Albany city line and includes adding sidewalk ramps, upgrading pedestrian signal systems, and replacing or adding curbs.
