In spite of its tax cap and a sparse increase in state aid, the Voorheesville School District will likely not see cuts in its upcoming budget. A meeting on Jan. 30 will discuss the preliminary budget, which includes increases to staff expenses and a high-priced capital project.

The governor's  proposed aid for next year is less than the $23.6 million Guilderland received in the 2008-09 school years.

The Voorheesville Central School District filed its $22.8 million draft budget with the state this month. Voters will decide on the budget and three propositions in May.

Only about 12 percent of Guilderland voters turned out for Tuesday's elections, which saw easy passage of the school district's $92 million budget and the library's $3.5 million budget as well as a $1 million school bus proposition.

Parents and teachers raised concerns about class sizes and choices at a March 25 forum on next year's $22.9M budget proposal for Voorheesville Central School District.
