Dorothy Anna (née Komjathy) Herzog died peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, surrounded in death as she was in life — by her loving family. She was 89.

She was born on July 29, 1933, the third child of Steven and Esther (née Wright) Komjathy.

WESTERLO — Joseph E. Rogers Jr., a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who had worked as an operating engineer, died on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022. He was 83.

Jay Alan Longshore, a teacher, died after a brief illness in Thailand on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022. He was 61.

He graduated from Guilderland High School in 1980, from Haverford College in 1984, and from Temple University in 1990.

ALTAMONT — Shirley A. Gage, longtime resident of Altamont, died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at age 88.

She was the daughter of Kenneth and Adelaide (née Eldridge) Frost and the beloved wife of the late Lewellyn Gage.

Stephen H. Burt, who graduated from Guilderland High School in 1962, was a proud Vietnam War veteran who was generous with his family.

A resident of Poughkeepsie, he died on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 78. 

RENSSELAERVILLE — Jost Nickelsberg, a former Rensselaerville supervisor with a passion for baseball and a résumé that included major stops on Wall Street, died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at his home in Medusa after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 80 years old. 

SCHENECTADY — On Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, Frank Palmeri of Brooklyn, New York who most recently lived in Schenectady, “joined his beloved wife, Trudy, in heaven,” his family wrote in a tribute. “Frank led a truly amazing life.

EAST GREENBUSH — James “Jim” Hall, a United States Navy veteran who worked for the New York State Police, died in the comfort of his East Greenbush home, surrounded by people he loved, on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022. He was 79.

WESTERLO — Ruth A. Snyder, of Goodfellow Road in Westerlo and formerly of Gallupville, was a wife and mother with a successful banking career who loved to travel. She died peacefully Monday morning, Nov. 7, 2022, at the Glendale Nursing Home in Scotia. She was 87.

ROCHESTER — Sara Gainer Haimowitz — born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; raised in Altamont, New York; and a resident of the Rochester, New York area — died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022. She was 39.
