Independence Party

Despite Republicans' efforts to wrest the Independence Party line from the endorsed Democrats, the write-in campaign failed. Conservative Party voters chose Democrats, too.

Pamela Fenoff, a member of the Independence Party, beat Michael Hammond, a Democrat, for the Independence line for Knox supervisor ahead of the general election in November.

Bryan Best, who is running for Guilderland’s receiver of taxes on the Republican line, also wants to secure the Independence Party line and, along with his fellow Republicans, has launched a write-in campaign for Tuesday’s primary.

We have no problem with that. It’s always good to give voters a choice.

In three instances, candidates didn’t file their paperwork on time and failed to secure endorsements before the Sept. 10 primaries.

The Independence Party endorsed Michael Hammond, the current Democratic supervisor in Knox, but Pamela Fenoff is an enrolled member. The Independence line will be determined in a September primary with just over 100 Knox voters — the third largest enrolled group in the town — able to decide.
