The Altamont Planning Board this week heard an update and kept open public comment about a proposed cell tower to be built on Agawam Lane.

The local board must stand its ground in assessing what is best for the community it serves.

The proposed cell tower to be installed on Agawam Lane in Altamont took another step toward approval, while a resident has raised concerns about the tower’s safety.

The Altamont Free Library will not charge its members late fees on borrowed children’s books for all of 2019.

While there is no reason in the zoning code for the Altamont Planning Board to reject a proposal for 120-foot monopole telecommunications tower to be placed above the village, the board has decided to allow the public more time to offer its input on the proposed project.
