Gao and Conforti swim at States in Ithaca

Guilderville swimmers Kelly Gao and Caroline Conforti competed at the state championships last weekend at Ithaca College.

Gao, a junior, placed 19th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.76; she had the 12th best time (24.52) during prelims. Gao also swam in the 100-yard freestyle, but her time of 54.84 wasn’t enough to make the finals.

Conforti, a sophomore, had a time of 1:01.10 in the 100-yard backstroke, but did not make the finals.

The two Guilderville swimmers did not set personal records at Ithaca College. Gao’s fastest marks are 24.38 in the 50-yard freestyle and 54.00 in the 100-yard freestyle. Conforti’s best time is 59.89 in the backstroke.
