If you want to have fun, pick Lebron, but, if you want to win, pick Kobe!

To the Editor:

Is Kobe Bryant better than Lebron James? This question has stumped many National Basketball Association fans and followers, but who knows the answer?

Kobe Bryant, a 36-year-old shooting guard and a part of the Los Angeles Lakers, has been in the NBA for his 16th season this year. Meanwhile, Lebron James has only been in the NBA for nine years.

A lot of people would say that Lebron is better because of how young he is and how well he is doing, but when Kobe was Lebron’s age, 29, was Kobe better?

In 2007-08 season, when Kobe was 29 years old, he was averaging 28.3 points per game, 5.4 assists per game, and 6.3 rebounds per game. Kobe’s field-goal percentage was .459. Also, Kobe was named Most Valuable Player of the NBA. And by this time, Kobe had three championships

But let’s go back to Lebron. This season, Lebron has averaged 26.5 PPG, 8.10 RPG, and 7.1 APG. Lebron James’s field-goal percentage is .557. But the problem is that Lebron has only one championship, while Kobe already had three championships at age 29.

I have been around basketball for a while now and I play basketball. I have watched both Lebron and Kobe play several times, and I would definitely pick Kobe over Lebron.

One reason I would pick Kobe is because Kobe is one of the best, if not the best, defenders in the NBA. Also, Kobe has one of the most consistent shots in the NBA and is much known for it. Kobe is also up there in the leader boards for having clutch shots and buzzer-beaters throughout his career.

Lebron James is an amazing athlete, too; I respect him a lot. Also, Lebron has shown a lot of improvement in his shot over his career and it will keep getting better. And, I would definitely give Lebron the award for being the better dunker of the two.

But I will still have to stay with Kobe.

Lebron James has achieved a lot, and has done amazing for how young he is, but people have forgotten about what Kobe had done when he was Lebron’s age and how well he was doing.

How I would put this Lebron vs. Kobe thing, is to just say, if you want to have fun, pick Lebron, but, if you want to win, pick Kobe!
