It does not make sense to close AES

To the Editor:

If the Guilderland Board of education and the superintendent really care about education, they will not allow the closing of the Altamont Elementary School.

Small class sizes are an enhancement.

The Altamont school is farther away from the other elementary schools.  If this school is closed, the children will have to be bused elsewhere for a long ride.   Transportation costs will be higher.

If the board and the superintendent truly care about the children's education, they will not close the school.  It does not make sense to close the Altamont Elementary School.

It will not enhance property values.   It will not save enough money to justify the action.
