We need more people to sign up for safety courses

To the Editor:

Do you want to learn boat or bicycle safety?  How about taking a defensive driving or Red Cross babysitting course?

In honor of National Honor Society Safety month this May, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society are hosting these classes for the general public.  We are looking for people who are interested in the classes.

Boater-safety classes are offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, April 21 and 28, and May 5 and 12.  Attendance of all four classes is mandatory.  The cost is $20 per person with $5 for additional family members.  Learn boating safety for this summer!

A defensive-driving course is offered on Tuesdays, May 13 and 20, from 6 to 9 p.m., at a cost of $35 per person.  Both classes must be attended.  This course can reduce your car insurance premiums and make you a better driver!

A Red Cross babysitting course is given on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $70 per person.  Learn how to be a safe and reliable babysitter.  A certificate is given at the completion of the course.

A bicycle-safety class is offered on Thursday, April 24, from 6:30 to 7 p.m.  And it is free to all participants!  Learn how to not break yourself on your bike!

These classes were organized and arranged by students at BKW and the honor societies’ advisors, Mrs. Noreen Shunney and Ms. Coriellen Travis.  To register for any class contact Ms. Travis at 872-0950.
