Richard W. Lennox

VOORHEESVILLE — Richard W. Lennox, who worked in the insurance business and loved the outdoors, died on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. He was 74.

Mr. Lennox, the son of the late Francis and Ruth (née Cook) Lennox, was born on May 16, 1940. He graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1958, and was a 1962 graduate of Lafayette College.

Mr. Lennox worked for 30 years at Farm Family Insurance, and retired in 1995. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Voorheesville, and was a past treasurer and finance committee member.

He served for many years as secretary of Troop 73 of the Boy Scouts of America Scout Committee. Mr. Lennox also enjoyed volunteering at the Heldeberg Workshop during fifth grade field days. He was a member and past president of the Possum Trot Golf League, a member of the Capital Area Retired Golf Association (CARGO), and a lifelong New York Giants fan.

He enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Anne Lennox, and was a member of the Spinner, Twirlers, Colonie Elks and Does Square Dance Club, and the Singles Square Dance Club. Mr. Lennox was also an avid outdoorsman.

“He loved the Adirondacks, boating, fishing, building, and carpentry,” his family wrote in a tribute.

Mr. Lennox is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anne (née Squires) Lennox; a son, Rick Lennox, and his wife, Jennifer; cousins, Beverly Blackwell and Linda Jacobs and their families; nieces, Deb Irwin, Dale Ross-Hager, and Jeannie Herman, and their families; brother-in-law, Clark Squires, and his wife, Lin, and his family; and many close friends.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choosing. Arrangements are by Reilly and Son Funeral Home of Voorheesville.
