GUILDERLAND — Leonard Friebel, a father and grandfather who served in the Navy and supported veterans, died on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022.

He was 73.He was born in Schenectady on Nov. 22, 1948, the son of the late Robert Friebel and Marjorie and “Bud” Geier.

On Friday, Feb. 18, the Guilderville boys swim team, made up of Guilderland and Voorheesville athletes, took to the pool at Shenendehowa Aquatic Center for the Section 2, Division 1 sectional championship.

On Wednesday, Feb. 16, the Guilderland gymnastics team took to the mat at the Section 2 championships at Shaker High School.

 

GUILDERLAND — Bernice Shultes Bunzey, formerly of Berne, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. She was 98.

Phillips Hardware in January was looking to post four signs that would total 128 square feet in area — well above what’s allowed by town law. That request met with unanimous pushback from Guilderland’s zoning board, which led to Phillips halving its ask earlier this month, a request that found a more receptive audience. But at the Feb. 16 meeting, Phillips requested its application be shelved. 

“At least 5.4 million children live in a home with at least one unlocked and loaded weapon and at least 80 percent of school shooters under the age of 18 aquire their weapons from the home, including the recent Oxford, Michigan shooter, who killed four,” said Conor Webb, president of the Guilderland chapter of March For Our Lives.
