Boys:
–– Guilderland beat Colonie, 65 to 55, at home on Tuesday after defeating Averill Park by 17 points on the road last Friday. The Dutchmen (7-2, 7-3) have won five straight games, and are one game behind first-place Bethlehem in the Suburban Council South Division.
On Tuesday, Marc DuMoulin scored 21 points for Guilderland and Brian Crupi added 17. Freshman Andrew Platek scored 14 points.
The Dutch host Saratoga on Friday. DuMoulin, Crupi, Platek, and Vincent Simeone have all scored at least 100 points this season.
–– After a 1-3 start to the season, Voorheesville has since gone 4-1, most recently defeating Cobleskill, 71 to 37, on Tuesday. Last Friday, the Birds beat Lansingburgh, 68 to 58. Each of the last two games came on the road.
Noah Crawford scored 21 points for Voorheesville on Tuesday, and Dylan Hensel had 17.
The Blackbirds host Ravena on Friday before hosting a tournament over the weekend. Voorheesville is second in the Colonial Council Division II.
–– Berne-Knox-Westerlo has slipped to third place in the Western Athletic Conference South after two consecutive losses to Schoharie (62-to-50) and Mekeel Christian Academy (70-to-63) this week. In both games, the Bulldogs surrendered the lead.
The Bulldogs had the lead against first-place Mekeel on Tuesday going into the fourth quarter, but five three-pointers by the Lions sealed BKW’s fate.
BKW (3-3, 6-4) travels to Sharon Springs on Fridat before playing Voorheesville on Saturday at 5 p.m. Senior Garrett Pitcher leads the Bulldogs with 181 points.
Girls:
–– Guilderland (4-5, 5-6) has dropped in the Suburban Council South standings after losing to Averill Park (57-to-27) on Friday and Colonie (45-to-34) on Tuesday.
The Dutch have gotten steady production from Caitlin Corbett, Shannon Mackesey, and Zibby Eckhardt all season.
–– Voorheesville (5-4, 5-5) is behind Watervliet (10-1) and Schalmont (7-4) in the Colonial Council rankings. The Blackbirds have won two straight games over Albany Academy and Cobleskill after being drubbed by Holy Names on Jan. 8.
Senior Anna Feller leads the team in scoring with 132 points. Junior Katina Wallace has made 25 three-pointers for Voorheesville.
–– Berne-Knox-Westerlo (5-0, 9-1) is putting together another solid campaign in the Western Athletic Conference after recent years of success. The Bulldogs are outscoring opponents, 516 to 326, this season.
Senior Liz Harvey broke BKW’s all-time scoring record last Friday (see related story) and leads Section 2 in points per game (23.8).
