Law Day 5K Run/Walk set for April 24 in Colonie

On Wednesday, April 24, the Albany County Bar Association will host the 19th Annual Law Day Run Against Domestic Violence at The Crossings of Colonie. This event helps raise funds to assist the victims of domestic violence here in the Capital District.

Last year, over 300 runners participated in the run, and based on the numerous inquires made for 2013, that number could grow to approximately 500. Attorneys and members of the general public will participate this year. Due to the generosity of many sponsors in the past, the Law Day Run has been able to raise substantial amounts to benefit local shelters and agencies offering costly and much-needed assistance to victims of domestic violence.

Assisting the victims of domestic violence is a vital mission, one to which the ACBA continues to be committed. In these difficult financial times, no one is immune, including those in the legal community. However, victims of domestic violence are often among the least able to cope with rising costs and an uncertain economic future. Even in the best of times, resources to assist victims of domestic violence are scarce.

The goal of this year’s Law Day Run is to surpass last year’s accomplishments. People who would like to be a supporter of the 19th Annual Law Day Run Against Domestic Violence, please contact the Albany County Bar Association at 445-7691 to make a pledge or donation.
