Photos: Guilderland girls cross-country finish second in Springstead, boys varsity X-C team takes first place overall on Friday

Setting the pace during the beginning of last Friday’s varsity girls’ race at the Springstead Invitational is Guilderland senior Emily Burns, right, who won the race with a time of 17:59 at Colonie Town Park. The Guilderland girls’ cross-country team placed second overall (78 points) behind Saratoga (23 points), which placed all five of its runners in the top 10. The Guilderland boys’ varsity team finished in first place overall.

Path in the woods: Berne-Knox-Westerlo senior Allie Tedeschi runs the course at Colonie Town Park last Friday during the Springstead Invitational, ahead of the rest of her team. Her time of 19:18 was good enough for 18th place out of 78 girls in the varsity race.

Friendly competition? Alyssa Jourdin, left, and Rebecca Miceli, of Guilderland, embark on the three-mile course at Colonie Town Park during the Springstead Invitational last Friday. Jourdin had a time of 19:26 for 20th place and Miceli was close behind in 23rd place with a time of 19:41.
