Girls who ranged in age from 6 to 20 were crowned Tuesday at the Altamont fair pageant. They'll reign all week at the fair, and the winners and their alternates will do community-service projects and make appearances throughout the year.

Proud pageant participant: Alyssa Gaige of Knox, 15, who competed in the Junior Miss category of the Altamont Fair pageant smiles widely on Tuesday as she is presented with the Cover Girl trophy for raising the most funds for the pageant. She was also named Miss Congeniality, and cited for giving a bracelet to the daughter of the pageant director, Kim DonVito.

Ellie Leszczynski, 6, of Rotterdam,  doing a handspring, impressed the judges with her gymnastics, and was named Little Miss Altamont Fair.

Paige Miller, 10, of Altamont, is crowned Young Miss; she showed her sporting prowess, wielding a lacrosse stick.

Emma DonVito, 11, of Rotterdam, answers a pageant question on who she would take to the Altamont Fair, saying, “I would take my Grandpa Joe because he has been in the hospital this year a lot...” She burst into tears before regaining her self and saying, “Because he used to go every year and would love to come again.” She was named Miss Tween Altamont Fair.

 Izabella Colon, 15, of Guilderland, a cheerleader, was named Junior Miss.

Meghan Cahill, 20, of Guilderland who demonstrated self-defense moves, was named Miss Altamont Fair in Tuesday’s pageant.
