A quick stop: Members of the Berne Fire District received an alarm of fire at 1640 Helderberg Trail in the hamlet of Berne on Monday afternoon, and quickly extinguished the flames. Here, firefighters from East Berne assist in the overhaul process on the back of the house in efforts to check for any fire extensions in the house. The fire was contained to the house, which is next door to the Fox Creek Market.

Releasing the pressure of a charged hose, Berne firefighter Ron Shultes opens up the hand line to drain out the water after it was used to put out a fire Monday afternoon in Berne. Six fire departments assisted Berne.
