Photos: Dutch Fly to Fifth in State

Guilderland varsity cheerleading took on 57 teams and 11 other schools in the co-ed division of the inaugural cheerleading state championship last week at the  SRC Arena & Events Center in Syracuse.​

“I couldn’t be happier with our season this year” said Guilderland Varsity Cheerleading Coach Patty Palmer about her squad’s season, the first ever as a state-sponsored sport. Ready to be caught by her teammates, Brianna Attanasio falls into their waiting arms during their preliminary routine last Saturday. The squad finished fifth with 86.85 points.

Shake, rattle and roll: Josette Muamba shows off her smile and dance moves. Guilderland finished with 92.35 in the final round, about 14 points behind the champion from Section 11, Mount Sinai.
