“It was truly amazing to see such a beautiful bird!” says Fran Drzymala of the snowy owl she photographed in the midst of this week’s days-long snowstorm in which the owl looks quite at home. She (females are barred while males are almost entirely white) is perched on a pallet Wednesday morning on the hill behind the Drzymalas’ house at 6597 Dunnsville Road in Altamont. Drzymala followed the owl with her camera to the utility pole across the street, then to the open field next door, and finally to a neighbor’s chimney. She had never seen one before.
