“I’m so glad you came into my life”: Donald Hyman, towards the center, sang “You’ve Made Me so Very Happy” to the Altamont Seniors as he handed each a pink rose during his performance on Aug. 20.

On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Altamont Senior Citizens had a delicious homemade luncheon prepared by Sister Mary Lou Liptak.  The group raved about it throughout the meal!

In addition, Donald "The Soul Man" Hyman visited the Seniors and serenaded them with Philadelphia Doo Wop, the "Johnnies" (Johnny Mathis, et al), a little Cab Calloway ("Minnie the Moocher"), and handed out pink roses during "You've Made Me So Very Happy.”

The Soul Man got a surprise of his own when Altamont Mayor James Gaughan presented him with a plaque and thanked him for his volunteer services on behalf of the village.  The certificate proclaimed, "In Appreciation to Donald ‘The Soul Man’ Hyman for his unfailing support for the communities of the Capital District; for sharing his love of music and theatre with the world; for his selfless support and honor for veterans far and wide; for his flawless and award-winning musical performances; and for his special support for the Village of Altamont Seniors.”

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Seniors boarded the bus and headed to the "Tiki" at Lake George for lunch and a Polynesian show, with a trip scheduled afterward up Prospect Mountain.
