Seeking milliner materials

Making old-fashioned hats will be one of the crafts for this year’s Fall Festival on Sept. 28 at John Boyd Thacher State Park.

“We are in need of all sorts of things to decorate hats, such as streamers (paper, fiber or what have you), stranded sequins, fabric (like crinoline or something flow-y), satin fabric, burlap, feathers, shiny stuff, ribbons, strands of things like fake pearls, orange paper or crepe paper, anything that you can attach to a paper hat easily, elastic to keep hats on — actually anything that would be a fun decoration on a hat,” says organizer Joy Scism.

Volunteers are also needed to help make hats that day.

Donations of materials should be made before Sept. 14.  Call Scism at 872-1237 if you can help.
