Wanted!

The Westerlo Library is seeking a public-spirited resident of Westerlo to serve on the board of trustees. The library needs board members who have a deep appreciation for and understanding of library service; who are committed to the informational, educational and recreation needs of the community; and who are willing to actively work to accomplish the library’s goals and objectives.

Applicants must live in the town of Westerlo and cannot be employed by or do business with the library. Mail a letter of interest indicating why you wish to serve, previous library involvement, and any specific qualifications and/or experience that would be of benefit to the library and board of trustees.  Send letters of interest to: Board of Trustees, Post Office Box 267, Westerlo, NY 12193.

Book Club

The Third Thursday Book Club will meet Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. to discuss “This Time Tomorrow” by Emma Straub. Copies are available at the circulation desk. Have a good read and join the discussion!

Story time is at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. Join Miss Lee for stories, music, and movement.

Homework Club and STEM activities are on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Get some help with homework and do some STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) activities.

For the months of September and October, Laura Tenney will be exhibiting her art quilts in the gallery space of the Hannay Community Room at the Westerlo Library. The exhibit is open during regular library hours.

The spice for October is curry powder. Pick up a sample and three recipes to try something new. The recipes for October are chickpea and vegetable coconut curry soup, curry broccoli salad, and curry pork chops.

Laura Tenney last year stood with the barn quilt she donated to the Westerlo Library; she named the pattern “The Tree of Knowledge” in honor of the library. This year, in September and October, her art quilts will be displayed in the library’s gallery.
