The Westerlo Library will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25 in observation of Christmas. The library will also be closed Tuesday, Dec. 31 and Wednesday, Jan. 1 in observation of the New Year.

Now that you are all done with retail therapy and many of you are ready to spend two full weeks off from school, the library has just what you need!

Art exhibit

Something for everyone! ”I enjoy depicting atypical subjects or looking at typical subjects from unusual angles.” Peter Keitel’s exhibit which includes painting of parts of vehicles, vibrant florals and geometric shapes from urban buildings are currently on display in the Hannay Room. The show will be at the library through the end of January, and can be seen during regular library hours.

The Great Give Back

The library has a collection box located in front of the checkout desk, for personal hygiene items that will be donated to the Hilltowns Community Resource Center. Donated items such as shampoo, soap and feminine care items would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Kiwanis Children’s Coat Donation Box 

The library has a box for the Kiwanis Children’s Coat Collection. As the weather gets cooler, please be sure to pass along your gently-used coats to the collection box that the library has in front of the checkout desk. The Kiwanis are also collecting warm-item gear such as hats, gloves, and scarves.

The heavy equipment was at the Westerlo Library all day Friday and Saturday to prepare the library for its improved parking lot. We had some hearty patrons that made their way to our side entrance and were able to check out materials.

Thank you to everyone for your patience as we are under construction. The outcome of more and improved parking will be well worth the wait. This work would not be possible without a New York State construction grant that the library received.

Exciting improvements are coming to the Westerlo Library. Thanks to a construction grant from New York State, we will begin work on our parking lot over the next couple of weeks.

This will mean the library will soon have two more parking spaces out front and a van handicap-accessible spot in the back. The library will be closed one day during the paving with the date yet to be decided.

We will notify the public of any closings on our Facebook page and website (see below for more information)  Having accessible and more parking for our patrons will allow us to better serve you.  

New-to-Westerlo Shelf 

Thanks to some generous donations we now have a New-ish shelf at the library. These books are new to our library but not hot off the presses.
