Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, March 28, 2014

On Monday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m., join us at the Middleburgh Library for Cooking by the Book. We will be using recipes from Rachael Ray’s Big Orange Book. This is the ultimate collection of all new 30-minute meals, vegetarian dinners, meals for one, kosher meals, holiday menus and much more. Pick up a book at the circulation desk.  Please let us know which dish you are making before the program so there are no duplicates.  Also, please bring your own plate and utensils.  Drinks will be provided. Registration is required. 

Story time

On Tuesday, April 1, at 10:45 a.m., join us at the library for drop in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children 0 to age five and their caregivers. We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong

On Tuesday April 1, at 1 p.m. join us at the library for Mahjong Mania. This program is scheduled for every Tuesday. Men and women are invited to come learn the game of Mahjong.  No experience is necessary; just a willingness to learn and have fun.  No registration is necessary. 

Kundalini Yoga

On Wednesday, April 2, from 5 to 6:15 p.m., join us for Kundalini Yoga facilitated by Debra Krol. This program involves repetitive movements with the breath, building strength, toning the nerves and clearing the adrenal glands.   

Wear comfortable clothing and bring two blankets or a mat and blanket. A $5 donation is requested. Use the back entrance when entering the building.  No registration is required.

Wednesday movie

On Wednesday, April 2, at 1 p.m. the library will have a showing of Anchorman 2:  The Legend Continues rated PG 13.

Knitting Circle

On Thursdays, April 3, 10, 17 and 24, at 7 p.m., join the Knitting Circle where ladies knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required. 

Plant health

On Friday, April 4, from 7 to 8 p.m., the library will offer Plant Healthcare through Proper Pruning, Planting and Mulching. Join Fred Breglia, Executive Director and Director of Horticulture and Operations for the Landis Arboretum as he teaches us about proper pruning, planting a mulching for plant health. Breglia is an ISA certified arborist.  Registration is required.

Gaming

On Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., we will be running games for anyone from beginners to experienced gamers.  Events all day long will include family games, cooperative play games, “worker” games, tile placement, deck building card games, historical miniatures and more.  Please contact the library to register for one or more of the following gaming sessions:

— Session 1: 9 a.m. to noon;

— Session 2: 1 to 4 p.m.; and 

— Session 3: 5 to 8 p.m.

There will be open gaming tables all day long.  Registration is required. 

Concert

On Monday, April 7, at 7 p.m., the library concert will feature John Flynn. Tickets are available at the door.  A $10 donation is suggested.  Please use back entrance.

Golf

On Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., we will be transforming your favorite library into an 18-hole mini golf course. Several area businesses and organizations will be sponsoring holes, tees and greens. Many will be customizing their space, making it unique to this event, complete with obstacles and giveaways. Come join us for a round of family fun, $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Also, you will have the chance to purchase drawing tickets for a variety of awesome gift baskets and other prizes.

Closing

On Saturday, April 12, the library will be closed for regular business from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
