Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, February 21, 2014

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 10:45 a.m., join us at the Middleburgh Library for drop in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children 0 to age five and their caregivers. We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Classic film

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m., we will be showing Great Expectations. Join us for a showing of this classic 1946 film version of Charles Dickens; book, Great Expectations starring John Mills and Valerie Hobson.  No registration is required and the popcorn is free.

Start with science

On Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m., preschoolers’ ages three to five will learn about basic science through stories and hands on science activities.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Registration is required. 

Wednesday matinee

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m., join us for  a showing of Ender’s Game rated PG-13.

Concert

On Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m., join us for Play Reading by Phil Potak. Potak, is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. His newest play, Heir Apparent, is a two-character piece that re-visits his running theme of family and how that concept cannot be defined simply, with a white picket fence. Tickets are available at the door.  A $10 donation is suggested.  Please use back entrance.

Knitting Circle

On Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m., join the Knitting Circle’s ladies knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required. 

Dinner and a movie

On Friday, Feb. 28, at 5:30 p.m. the library will show Gravity rated PG 13.  We will provide pizza, salad and drinks and you bring a dessert to share.  Please note that this movie is rated PG-13 and is not suitable for young children. Registration is required. Please use back entrance.

Board games

On Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m., join us at the library for board games for adults. Local board gamers Mal Martin and Jeremy Strickland will be hosting a board gaming session for adults.  We will be playing new games that promote cooperative play and healthy competition like Kingdom Builder, Forbidden Island and Carcassonne, just a few of the games we’ll break out. Registration is required.
