Guilderland Library Notes for Tuesday, November 25, 2014

Now that youngest Baby Boomers are turning 50 (50!), it’s time to focus on healthy living for years yet to come. Join us for a three-part series “Living Well for Boomers and Beyond: A CDPHP Wellness Workshop” that starts Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m., at the Guilderland Public Library.

Among the topics covered are eating well, staying active, and getting the best night’s sleep for optimal health.

Registration is required; please call 456-2400, ext. 2. You can also sign up online at guilpl.org; go to the event calendar for Dec. 2, and click on the “Living Well for Boomers” link.

Just in case, the snow date for this event is Dec. 4.

Stitch 'n' Giggle Club

Kids in grade four and up are invited to join us for a monthly meeting of our new “Stitch ‘n’ Giggle Club!” on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m.

Staff members will be available to help you with your knitting or crocheting project. Don’t know how to knit or crochet? No problem, we will help you learn.

Bring size 8 knitting needles or an 8mm (size L) crochet hook, and we’ll get you started. GPL will provide the yarn. Feel free to bring your own after-school snack, too.

Please call 456-2400, ext. 4 to register.

Li'l LEGO Club

GPL’s Li’l Lego Club for children in kindergarten through grade two is back and really snapping together. The next session is on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 3:30 p.m.

We will meet in the story hour room and use our imagination for some creative play with friends. Bring your own bricks or create with ours. As usual, creations that you bring to show off will be kept separate from the library supplies.

Give us a call at 456-2400, ext. 4 so that we can make sure we have enough LEGOs for all.

Images of America:

Altamont

Altamont is the focus of a book signing at GPL with author Keith C. Lee on Friday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m.

Lee will be talking about his new book, — Altamont — the latest locale profiled in the popular Images of America series.

Come hear Mr. Lee's presentation, complemented by illustrations from the book. Copies will be available for sale and author's autograph.
