Thompsons Lake, Oct. 3, 2013

On Monday, Sept. 23, my daughter Kathy came and spent the day. She held Zoey most of the day and took her outside a few times to enjoy the fresh air.

My grandson, Brandon brought dinner home for us. We had haddock and fresh asparagus. We prepared the asparagus in the microwave according to Kathy’s recipe and actually saved more vitamins this way.

My daughter, Marcia joined us for dinner.

On Tuesday, my sister, Pat Sykala of Schenectady came and watched Zoey while I went to Dr. Abraham for a shot in my left knee. I have a completely new right knee.

On Tuesday evening, I went to an open house with Jenn Smith for her son, Iain. He is in second grade and has Ms. Pahl.

I love school and knowing what the children are learning.

Wednesday came and I worked on more of Dan’s paperwork. I also wrote out greeting cards for the Sunshine Club. Then late in the afternoon, Jeanette Gendron came to visit; her husband, Jimmy, worked with Danny every night.

Thursday was Miles and Melissa’s fourth anniversary. Miles came to feed the chickens and then they were meeting for dinner.

Zoey slept a lot more on Thursday and I got some cleaning done.

On Friday Kathy and I had lunch together.

Saturday was exciting because Danielle and I went shopping to buy a crib for Zoey. She’s almost ready to sit up. Saturday evening, Kathy and Gary brought dinner over to us. Kathy prepared pork chops baked in sauerkraut and apples, boiled potatoes and tossed salad. It was delicious. Kathy, Gary, Danielle, Matt, Miles, Ray Rhodes, Joe Bennett and I ate together.

Brandon and Jenn Smith attended the Smith reunion at the home of Joe Basil. They had a wonderful time with visiting family and delicious food.

On Sunday I went to church and then met with two UPS employees at Dan’s house to see the shirts they designed and are selling as a benefit for Danielle.

Then I went to Kathy and Gary’s for a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Kassi and her boyfriend, Jared Martin were also there. Kassi made a delicious peach crisp for dessert.

It was a rewarding weekend because I spent so much time with family.

I got a call from a friend of years ago. You’d never guess and I was so surprised. It was Jack Sellnow who used to live next to Pine Park in Berne. Jack lives in Melbourne, Fl., and if you’d like to call and chat his number is 321-536-6266. It seems like 20 years since I’ve heard his voice but it was a welcome sound, Hearing from friends makes life complete.
