The Grille At 138 serves paintings with prime rib
ALBANY — Art is on the walls and on the tables at a new restaurant a block away from the buzzing Capitol building and the Fort Orange Club, opened last month in downtown Albany.
The restaurant’s proprietor, Bonnie Kohl, is a resident of Westerlo.
The menu at The Grille At 138 has varied and high-end staples, with beef stroganoff, seared scallops with Tobiko caviar, and pecan-encrusted chicken breast with Frangelico sauce that range from $18 to $26. Foods from the grill can be as low as $10 for a burger and as high as $27 for an 18-ounce rib eye. Prime rib is served on Friday and Saturday nights.
Its appetizers include chili-spiced chicken wings, sesame-encrusted Ahi tuna, and zucchini ribbon squash salad.
The dining room is dimly lit and gives tables a wide berth and a view of art hanging on the walls and a lighted wine rack.
For a more casual or faster meal, diners can take a table at the front of the restaurant. Drinks are made nearby at a 22-foot-long bar.
At 138 Washington Ave. in Albany, the new location is open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 4 to 11 p.m. for dinners on Saturdays. A brunch buffet is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
