GUILDERLAND — Dale Owen’s request to keep chickens in his Guilderland backyard was denied by the town’s zoning board at its meeting last night.

The board’s chairman, Peter Barber, recused himself from the vote, because he lives in Owen’s neighborhood.

GUILDERLAND — A woman says she was assaulted when she was out for a walk on Tuesday and the police are asking anyone who might have seen the suspect to call them.

A press release from the Guilderland Police Department said events unfolded this way:

GUILDERLAND — Timothy Whittemore wants to live vicariously through his clients in his new travel business.

Whittemore decided to become what he terms a “vacation specialist” with a franchise called CruiseOne after he left active duty with the United States Air Force.

Matthew C. Woelfersheim also intentionally started a fire in an unoccupied building on Carman Road in Guilderland on Sept. 30, 2013; the fire spread to a neighboring property and damaged a garage and vehicle, according to police.

Alphonzo Hicks Jr. was unable to complete field sobriety tests and, according to the police report, registered a blood alcohol content of .27.

“I think a lot of the opposition stems from people comparing this to a barnyard situation,” said Houser. “That’s not what this would be.”

GUILDERLAND — Guilderland Police Officers performed a water rescue at the Normans Kill on Saturday after two men, who, police say, had been drinking alcohol, jumped from the Frenches Hollow foot bridge.

Investigators determined that the fire started on the back porch of a third-floor apartment, and was due to the accidental or improper disposal of hot coals.

In the past year, said Police Chief Carol Lawlor, there were 17 heroin overdoses in Guilderland, and five of them were fatal.

“I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur, and the one constant in my jobs was always content creation,” said Danielle Klahr, who edits and writes content for local and national businesses.
