GUILDERLAND — “How wonderful to be in love!” wrote David Griggs-Janower, the founder, artistic director, and conductor of Albany Pro Musica, on the last release he dispatched for a concert.

DELANSON — A southern, cultured woman, Fay Rusch nurtured four daughters as well as her own cross-bred orchid, “Fay’s Folly.”

Fay Knoll Rusch died on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, in Guilderland. She was 83.

NEW SCOTLAND — Carolyn Sand loved her family, enjoyed traveling, and liked to place a good bet.

Recovering from a recent illness and heart surgery Mrs. Sand died unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013. She was 68.

KNOX — Inspired by nature and a distinguished lineage, Mary Klatt resolved to meet the demands of farm life and supporting a large family.

Mrs. Klatt died on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013. She was 98.

GUILDERLAND CENTER — After the Helderberg Reformed Church burned more than two decades ago, and the congregation was organizing to rebuild, Henry Adams Jr., the church’s secretary-treasurer, wrote out thank-you notes to every donor.

GUILDERLAND — A woman with a quick wit and indomitable spirit, Carol M. Kaelin could make words sing.

ALTAMONT — Ann Marie Klestikova Brooks, known for her civic mindedness and her excellent sense of humor, died on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013.

“Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, her Main Street kitchen was often filled with others who just needed to talk,” her family wrote in a tribute.

GUILDERLAND — Artha Arlene Schramm, known to her friends as Arlene, a woman who loved to talk and write letters, died on Saturday, July 27, 2013. She was 92.

Mrs. Schramm was born on Sept. 18, 1920, to the late Maurice and Emily McCall, of Holley, N.Y.

ALTAMONT — Dennis Javoroski, of Altamont, a Navy veteran and a father, died on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013. He was 45.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., the son of Gerald and Nellie Javoroski.  He was married to Janeen Javoroski on Aug. 21, 2001.

A Vermont deputy sheriff raised in Voorheesville, Michael Andrew Zemanek was a straight arrow — a hardworking young man remembered in his hometown for both his kindness and his energy.

EAST BERNE — Emily E. (née Haluska) Chase, a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013. She was 82.

Born on Feb. 18, 1931 in Berne, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Haluska.

EAST BERNE — Starting as an operator for the New York Telephone Company, Carolyn Marcy rose through the ranks of an industry for three decades as it underwent major technological changes.

“She broke some ground in that regard as a woman in the ’50s and ’60s on the management side,” said her grandson, Edward Marcy.
