The summer worship schedule at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont on Sunday, July 28, is as follows:

 Bryan Sommers from Slingerlands, serving with the New York Army National Guard Joint Force Headquarters has been promoted to the rank of master sergeant.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland High School Class of 1968 will hold its 45th reunion on Friday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 10.

Friday, starting at 7 p.m., members of the classes of 1967 and 1968 are invited to a “Dutch Treat” gathering at the Inn Town Restaurant at 5180 Western Ave. in Guilderland.

There will be family history records for researchers, games, and a lot of fun for the whole family. 

Pool owners are invited to join the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in its second annual Asian longhorned beetle (ALB) swimming pool survey now through Aug. 30 in order to help keep watch for these exotic, invasive beetles before they cause serious damage to forests and street trees.

GUILDERLAND — Dr. Kim Keeling took over the Sports & Spinal Wellness Center and expanded its services last year.  She now announces that on Aug. 1, Dr. Robert Irwin and the Family Health & Sports Chiropractic clinic will join the Sports & Spinal Wellness Center.

WESTERLO — The love of her dog, Chip, a whippet mix, has led Mimi Dygert to help unwanted whippets find good homes. She says she adored Chip’s looks, temperament, and athletic ability.

GUILDERLAND — The week of July 21 to 27 is Guilderland Restaurant Week when participating restaurants will serve three-course meals for $20.13.

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy is taking his office on the road this summer.  He has scheduled office hours in several communities, including Knox, Berne, Coeymans, and Rensselaerville.

GUILDERLAND — Realtor Emily Modan has joined the Albany office sales team of Weichert Realtors - Northeast Group, and Rachel Campigno is the new office administrator in the agency’s Guilderland office.

ALTAMONT — The Altamont Fair will return for its 120th year, from Aug. 13 to 18, with much to see and do.

EAST BERNE — Jamie Lynn Kennedy wanted to be an earth-science teacher when she graduated from Hunter College in New York City in 2011. After following a winding path in education she has returned to her home on Main Street to open a day-care center.
