Forte’s apology showed true strength of character

To the Editor:

I am sure you will be inundated with letters similar to mine; my wife and I have just received a flyer from the Barber campaign attacking Brian Forte.

Peter Barber and his cronies, who have run out of anything substantial to say, have resorted to demeaning attacks on the very popular Republican candidate for town supervisor.

The Barber flyer signals weakness of character in the town's ruling Democratic leadership and party. Brian Forte publicly acknowledged, and apologized for, the mistake highlighted in this attack flyer.

This shows true strength of character and I will be proud to have Brian Forte as our town supervisor.

Editor’s note: This letter was received after our last edition was printed. The flyer featured a news story about Brian Forte’s arrest for driving a snowmobile while intoxicated; his public apology was covered by The Enterprise on Jan. 22, 2015. The flyer also included a letter to The Altamont Enterprise about Forte’s campaign accepting money from a developer with a project before the town board. The letter was published with an editor’s note including Forte’s response. These are online at www.altamontenterprise.com.
