How can everyone be fine with the status quo?

To the Editor:

Two years ago, I called out the Democrats for their disgusting behavior of placing their campaign signs next to the cemetery right in town. It resulted with them doing nothing, only making fools of themselves

I applaud and thank Mr. John Elberfeld for calling them out on this behavior again! I do not think that not having your signs there will cost you an election, although I hope it would. It's about time we have more people calling them out for this disgusting move.

We need a resurgence in Knox — a resurgence of prosperity that existed when I was younger. New businesses and business-friendly officials would be a good start. No new tax increases would be beneficial also but that won't come with the incumbents.

Mr. Michael Hammond has done us no good either and his "list of accomplishments" is merely just a crossed off to-do list. There's no substance to it. There are no real results to prove that he deserves another term.

He didn't deserve one last election either. How can everyone be fine with the status quo? Are you afraid of change for the better?

There's more to the job than simply liking it. We need someone who is going to be proactive with issues and looks to tackle the problems head on. Vas Lefkiditis is that person.

And what does Mr. Dennis Barber have to say about his accomplishments? Nothing that I can see.

It's funny to see the Youth and Senior Services coordinators be appointed close to the election and to have all the incumbents pat themselves on the back. All I see is the current officials vote together on every single issue. The only exception is an abstained vote here and there.

I want to see real dialogue and discussion at length. Maybe if citizens thought their voices would actually be heard by our officials, there would be more active participants in government.

I am not a Democrat, nor will I ever be, but I am glad to say that I voted for Vas on my absentee ballot for this year. I'm now a junior in college and I still care deeply about electing people who will help make Knox a great place for me to return to and encourage others to move into.

I much prefer supporting people than running myself but who knows what could happen if things don't change for the better!

Vas is dedicated to turning things around and actually accomplishing real, substantive things! You can't get that from anyone running now, that's for sure. So please, help elect a true leader and problem-solver when you vote Nov. 3. Vote your conscience, not your party. Vas for Knox!
